Modern glaciers and Quaternary glacial landforms widely distribute in the Himalayas, it already become one the the most important research area on Quaternary glaciations and environmental evolution. This proposal selects the area around summit Pauhunri and summit Chomolhari, focus on the Quaternary glacial remains, use professional field investigation to landforms and sediments, and sample collection, with the combination of remote sensing and DEM data, GPS and GIS techniques, to set up dependable glacial landform and deposit sequences, use multiple dating techniques of 14C, OSL, TCN exposure and burying, and ESR etc, to establish constrained chronology of Quaternary glaciation in the research area. By means of synthetical integration of other results on Quaternary environmental change with new achievement of this project, the expectation is to discuss the startup and driving factors of the glaciation in the Himalaya areas, to acquire new knowledge about Late Quaternary glacial chronology and environmental evolution mechanism.
