Automobile exhaust emissions are one of the major sources of urban air pollution, and it need to be purified to protect people’s health. In this work, a polypropylene-reinforced triboelectric nanogenerator (PR-TENG) is designed to construct a self-powered exhaust pollutant purification system. Benefiting from the low frictional wear of the structure, the PR-TENG can operate stably and continuously. With a power management circuit (PMC), negative ion generator based on carbon nanowires can produce 1.2×10 7 negative ions per second, which can reduce PM 2.5 concentration in a gas chamber rapidly from overproof to normal level within 5 min. A conductive glass loaded with homemade photocatalyst which is connected to positive output of PMC can enhance photocatalytic efficiency greatly. This purification system combines PR-TENG for NAIs dust removal and photocatalysis promotion, forming a self-powered and multifunctional vehicle exhaust purification system, thereby offering a novel approach for air quality improvement.
