The tribological properties of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) need to be modified to withstand severe conditions. In this study, a novel 2D lubricant additive was successfully synthesized in the form of a perfluorinated covalent triazine framework (FCTF) due to its layered structure and thermal stability. With the addition of 1.0 wt% FCTF, the friction coefficients of PEG400 could be reduced by 45 %, and wear volumes by 75 %. revealed that a protective tribofilm was formed through the synergistic combination of chemisorption (Fe–F bonds) and physisorption (FCTF deposition), which was enhanced by the presence of graphite-like carbon and Fe 2O 3 nanoparticles.
