Chronic diabetic wounds are notoriously difficult to treat, in part because hyperglycaemia suppresses the endogenous electric fields that normally guide tissue repair. Now, writing in Science Advances, Chunying Chen, Zhou Li, Han Ouyang and colleagues report a fully bioabsorbable, glucose-powered electronic bandage that uses MXene-based electrodes to harvest biochemical energy and restore these wound-edge fields in diabetic tissues.
